Terms & disclaimer

By using Import Duty Calculator, you agree to the terms on this page. If anything here is unclear, get in touch before relying on the site.
Not an official service
Import Duty Calculator is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to HMRC, the Department for Business and Trade, or any UK government department. The official tariff is published free of charge at trade-tariff.service.gov.uk, and it is the legal source for any figure on this site.
Estimates only
The figures this site produces are estimates. They apply published duty rates to the values you enter, and they are not a customs declaration, not customs or tax advice, and not a guarantee of what you will be charged. The amount actually payable is determined when your declaration is accepted, on the basis of your goods, their classification and their declared value. Rates are rebuilt from the published data periodically; the date of the data in use is shown in the footer of every page.
Your responsibilities as the importer
Three things this site cannot decide for you determine your bill, and all three remain yours in law. The commodity code that describes your goods is a classification judgement, and an incorrect code can mean underpaid duty and a penalty. The customs value is set by statutory valuation rules, which may require additions to the price you paid, such as royalties or tooling. The origin of your goods is a legal test under the relevant rules of origin, and it is not the same as the country your shipment left from. If any of the three is wrong, the estimate will be wrong with it.
What is not included
The calculator does not account for excise duty on alcohol, tobacco or fuel; anti-dumping or countervailing duties; safeguard measures; tariff quotas; customs agent, broker or courier handling fees; or any charge that is not customs duty or import VAT. Preferential rates are shown as conditional because they require the goods to meet the rules of origin of the relevant agreement and a valid proof of origin to be held. See what this estimate leaves out for the detail.
No liability
This site is provided free of charge, "as is", with no warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Use of the calculator, or any commercial decision made on the basis of its output, is at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vasia Media accepts no liability for any loss, including any duty, VAT, penalty or lost margin, arising from reliance on this site.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time as the calculator or site changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
